Winner of several Oscars and appreciation, the movie ‘Milk’ guarantees its audience the thrill and insight like no other hot flick. As the name implies this movie isn’t exactly about the milk products from some cowshed but about he gay rights activist Harvey Milk. Based on a true-life story this movie is centred on the true-life events of Harvey Milk. In those being a gay was a big thing and Harvey Milk was the first gay to be voted as a public officer in San Francisco, California.

This second movie on Harvey Milk and follows the storyline of its previous version. The previous version of the movie was released way back in November 1984 with the title ‘The Times of Harvey Milk’. This movie made its way to Oscars and won an Oscar for the Best Documentary Film. People do tend to compare the revised version with the original one, however, they couldn’t make out much of a difference quality wise. The 2008 version and got nominated for 8 categories at the Academy Awards and won Oscars with the titles of Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Original Screenplay. Best Actor in a Leading Role was awarded to Sean Penn for his excellent performance in the role of Harvey Milk. Best Original Screenplay was awarded to Dustin Lance Black.

The filming for Milk was also as authentic as its crew. It was shot at San Francisco’s Castro Street and at the camera shop - Castro Camera that was once owned by Harvey Milk. The movie is based on the lifetime period of Harvey Milk’s life from his 40’s to his assassination. The story starts of in New York where Milk stays with his lover Scott Smith and refuses the suffocating life of staying in a closet throughout his life. He makes a fresh start by opening a camera shop on Castro Street that soon becomes the meeting place for the gay members of the San Franciscan community. Milk begins to focus on the issue of gay rights and the lack of it which is followed by a move to make a foray into the world of politics to be better able to champion the gay cause. Milk is met with many failures before he is successfully voted as a supervisor. Then begins his struggle to espouse the gay cause and get people to see the injustice being meted out to gays for being who they were. This process leads him to take on both Anita Bryant as well as a colleague by the name of Dan White who also happens to be elected at the same time as Milk.

The role of Dan White, one of the other contenders who were voted for at the same time when Harvey Milk was voted for has been played by the brilliant actor Josh Brolin. However, Dan White had to face a lot of hassles in his career because of his conservative attitude towards gays as people supported the concept of Harvey Milk. As time passed White’s frustrations and failures grew and ultimately lead to the assassination of a true hero- Harvey Milk. This movie is worth a watch and should be seen at least once even if for free on the net.

Hayao Miyazaki, perhaps, commands the same respect among audiences as Walt Disney for his world class animation films. He made some beautiful films like “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke”. We expected a good film when Ponyo hit the theaters. But we were disappointed. Thye plot is full of loopholes and other departments too lack a finesse which makes the film almost bad. It is an anime which will be liked by the kids but I am not sure about the teens.

The film is inspired by Hans Christain Anderson’s “The Little Mermaid”. The plot of the film is thus: a goldfish falls in love with a human boy and she hopes to become a girl so that she can live with the boy happily ever after. It is a simple love story that has been poorly told.

The film is an utter disappointment to the Miyazaki fans. He has directed classics like “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle” but he seems to have faltered while making this movie. The animation will not enthrall you and there is a good chance that people will get bored after the initial half an hour or so.

The script is the weakling of the movie, Ponyo. A bad script always results in a bad film and Ponyo is no exception. But this does not mean that there are no good scenes in the movie. We must mention at least one which is really good - the one in which Ponyo takes the human form and runs from the giant Tsunami will actually leave speechless. But one good scene does not make a good movie. But we definitely expected a lot from the Japanese filmmaker.

Ponyo(Noah Cyrus) is a small fish who leaves her home and father(Liam Neeson), a magical sea guardian, to explore the wide world. She gets caught in a trash and is swept ashore in to the hands of Sosuke(Frankie Jonas), a 5 year old boy. The two starts to like each other and one day she accidentally tastes a drop of Sosuke’s blood which changes her to a sweet little girl. Her father makes a failed attempt to arrest the changes. Ponyo breaks free and heads for the surface.

A lot of incidents take place after Ponyo heads for the surface. The tides are rising and the moon is coming closer. But why? The love between Ponyo and the boy must be successful to stop all these. The premise is so stupid that I suggest you don’t watch this movie at all. If you really decide to have a go then watch Ponyo online free.

The children will probably love Ponyo but I feel a sense of pity for the parents as it will be a real torture for them. The voice, though, is good especially by Cate Blanchette, Matt Damon and of course, Liam Neeson. The film boasts of good actors as the voices so it is sad to see such a poor product. We hope Mr Miyazaki will bounce back with his next. Till then we need to be contented with this one only.

This is an epic disaster/adventure movie which is based on global cataclysm i.e. natural disasters. The story takes its root from the predictions in the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar and the Mayan calendar which states that the world will be destroyed completely by the year 2012 due to certain climatic changes. The movie moves at break-neck pace and is packed with all ingredients of action, adventure and drama. The catastrophic events like the earthquake and volcanic eruptions are so realistic and mind blowing that you will be thrilled.

Let us come to the crew of this epic adventure movie. The movie is directed by Roland Emmerich as told earlier. The story was written by Roland Emmerich along with Harald Kloser. John Cussack and Amanda Peet don the major roles in the movie along with Chiwetel Ejiofor. The other supporting actors in the movie are Oliver Patt, Thandi Newton, Jimi Mistry and many eminent actors. The music is scored by Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander. Dean Semler is the cinematographer of this movie.

Believe me guys, this is an edge of the seat thriller and is a must-watch movie for all of them. This movie will enthrall all movie goers with its excellent screenplay. My personal advice is to watch this movie in the theatre although you can watch 2012 movie online free as many have uploaded this movie in their websites. Bride Wars is a Romantic comedy revolving around the lives of Emma and Liv whose only dream is to have their wedding take place in Plaza Hotel. All those who’ve watched The Girl Next Door movie will agree that it’s a completely entertaining flick. Many assume that it’s a movie suited to the teen crowd only but that isn’t the case. The movie has much more to offer to audiences of various ages. The misconception could have been a result of the tagline used to promote the film - “Matt never saw her coming, but all his friends had.”

Every year we see a lot of stereotype teen movies released which fail to humor or entertain us. The Girl Next Door is a beacon of light that lights up our hopes of expecting something better from a movie with almost 90% teenage characters.

People who are beyond the stage where they double over with laughter for slapstick comedy will definitely enjoy the humor in this film. It really does make you crack up and is another refreshing divergence from movies of this genre that almost always bank heavily on slapstick comedy to see them through.

Of course, there also the fact that The Girl Next Door has a clear and distinct storyline that many teens might be able to relate to. Things get even more complicated when Danielle is asked to act in another such film by her ex-producer.

Many die-hard Harry Potter fans were fervently waiting for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie to hit their nearest theatres. Many just wanted to get engrossed in JK Rowlings fantasy land, some just wanted to see their favorite characters again and a lot of them wanted to see what the new director had in store for them. David Yates the new director for this movie, though inexperienced, did a fabulous job in bringing out the true essence of this fabulous fantasy novel by JK Rowling.

There are a number of key events that are taking place in this movie such as the return of He Who must Not be Named, O.W.L exams and the intrusion of the Ministry of Magic in Hogwarts. The movie starts with Harry walking down a street with his cousin Dudley (Harry Melling) and suddenly finding dementors attacking them. He fights them off but this leads to complication with the Ministry of Magic. Seeing that the Ministry of Magic is not doing their job properly Dumbledore re-starts the Order of the Phoenix, a secret society of magicians who come together for one cause; to destroy Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes).

Many things are happening in Harrys fifth year at Hogwarts, he has his much awaited O.W.L. exams, Lord Voldemort is rumored to have returned and the Ministry of Magic is going crazy and is taking keen interest in the working of Hogwarts. The movie begins with Harry and his cousin Dudley being attacked by Dementors, Harry manages to save the day with his Patronus charm, but that lands him in trouble with the Ministry of Magic. Meanwhile, Dumbledore is secretly re-grouping the members of the Order of the Phoenix, whove sworn to protect Harry and kill Lord Voldemort.

Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione soon learn about the Order of the Phoenix and are eager to find out more. They meet at the House of the Black and are introduced to another new character called Kreacher, the house elf. At the House of the Black they also get to meet other members of the Order of the Phoenix including someone they have a particular dislike for, especially Harry.

One of the latest additions to the Potter series characters is Dolores Umbridge. This lady in pink is an employee with the Ministry of Magic and has been sent to take control of things at Hogwarts. Her conservative and cruel ways soon create a strong student dislike against her. Imelda Staunton plays the strict and snobbish persons role brilliantly and is one of the biggest success of this movie.

One of the most fascinating parts of the movie is the special effects, especially the thestrals. The movie also has managed to get the right casts for the roles of Dolores Umbridge and Bellatrix. All in all this Harry Potter movie is without doubt one of the best in the series so far.

Public Enemies movie starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cottilard is directed by Michael Mann. If you want to watch a low key, slightly off beat movie, then this is the perfect movie for you. But, do not expect too much from the film.

The Public Enemies movie centers around the most famous outlaw in the 1930s, a notorious bank robber called John Dillinger and examines his fall from grace. The film attempts to show this in a romantic light. As expected, Johnny Depp portrays the character of Dillinger excellently. He adds so much feeling to Dillingers story thanks to his onscreen charisma. Christian Bale on the other hand delivers a pretty good job of playing an FBI agent, Melvin Plus, who is in charge of capturing Dillinger.

Johnny Depp performs yet another explosive performance which is largely what we come to expect from him. His charisma and charm perfectly complement the role of John Dillinger. The other star of the movie, Christian Bale plays the part of Melvin Purvis and does a commendable job at that. Melvin Purvis was the man responsible for the downfall of John Dillinger.

From the very go, there is a confident, skillful and loyal aire about John Dillinger that makes his character somewhat loveable despite actually being the villain of the piece. Initially John Dillinger is somehow alienated from the gang, but is then shown to be back at his best. He plans bank robberies with absolute meticulousness and precision and some of them take a matter of two minutes to complete. This is where we see the flipside of John Dillinger ” an amiable side. Some people respect him for not robbing peoples possessions directly even when he had them at his mercy.

The Public enemies movie shows both the glory days of John Dillinger and the days of his fall effectively. There are times when you actually feel sorry for his fall thanks to Depps marvelous performance. There is a lot of exciting gunfire scenes and blood and gore, but this movies best part is the way the director handles the character of John Dillinger.

Christian Bale did not have a very exciting role to play but did a decent job nonetheless considering his part. Marion Cotillard has also done very well and plays Depps love interest.
