Golf Tips for Improving Golfers - Ball Position Part 2

In my last article I described where you should place the ball in your stance. Many people got in touch with me to explain further where the ball should be in terms of being forward or back in your stance, and on reading the article again, I notice I spent more time on distance from your body as that’s the area I had most problems with.

However, it seems most of you who wrote to me have more problems with the other type of positioning. As I always say - there are many different types of golfers, and this just proves it! I read back through my original notes and have put together this Part 2.

To quickly recap the first part, you should place the ball away from you based on the club you’ve chosen for the shot at hand. With the driver having the longest club shaft, this means the ball will be furthest from you for the driver, and nearest to you for the shorter clubs.

What I learned to do in terms of positioning along the line of the swing, then, was position the ball at different points depending on the club. So not only are we placing the ball at different distances from ourselves dependent on the club selected, we’re also positioning it at different positions along the swing plane, also based on the club we’ve chosen.

Essentially, the longer the shaft of the club, the further forward along the line of the swing the ball should be. Starting with the driver, then, we place it up towards where our front foot would intersect with the line of the swing - that being the left foot for righthanders like me.

Because the driver requires a big looping swing (with it having the longest shaft of any club), we don’t want to hit the ball too early. The ball needs to be positioned forward in the stance, so the club head hits it on the up, rather than on the way down in the swing.

Amateur golfers will only use the driver for the vast majority of the time on a tee shot. The combined effect of placing the ball forward in the swing, and having a high tee which is also recommended for a driver, will see us hitting the ball up from the tee, thus sending it further.

With the other clubs not requiring as big a swing, and also not needing us to hit the ball quite so much on the up, we position the ball further back down the line of the swing, with the shortest clubs having their best ball position in line with your eyes, in the middle of your stance.

Are Golf Shoes Essential for the Golfing Beginner?

As you probably know, there are shoes for virtually every sport possible. There are only a few sports that don’t have a special shoe that’s planned to improve the way you play while using them. Yet many of us can’t afford to always purchase all the extra sports equipment like shoes that are required. Many golf beginners often wonder if it is really necessary to purchase golf shoes in order to actually play golf. In making an attempt to balance money matters with safety issues there are a couple of things that you need to remember.

Golf Shoes are Expensive and Not Used That Often

Your prime concern should be your skill level. A newbie usually cannot excuse the cost to buy golf shoes. They are certainly not inexpensive, and since they’re only can only be worn while on the golf course they have a really limited use outside of the golf course. While basketball and tennis shoes can be worn in diverse situations, the golfing shoes must remain on the golf course in order to avoid damaging them, or the floor covering on which you are walking on.

Finding Comfortable Golf Shoes

If you are a very skilled golfer or have a tendency to play quite often , you may need to invest in a good pair of golfing shoes. Sometimes buying golf shoes will need you to find a pair of shoes that you are basically thoroughly secure wearing. You must remember that many golf courses require you to do a lot of walking so you want something that fits comfortably. Something with plenty of cushioning as well as the correct size is important.

Golf Course Rules Concerning Golf Shoes

You need to also contact the golfing courses where you plan on playing. There are some who require golf shoes for you to play. While this could seem like a little bit of a killjoy if you were not planning to buy golfing shoes at first, the golfing course requiring the shoes is a safety consideration to ensure that you don’t slip and fall while you are swinging your club. A good pair of golf shoes has spikes that dig into the ground a bit while you are standing that will provide a little bit of further traction and ensure that you are not slipping the 1st time you swing the club.

Golf Shoe Styles

Taking your time to research for golf shoes is a particularly wise idea. There are dozens if not hundreds of different colors so sometimes picking the best color that you like can be a bit of a tough decision. In addition, not all shoes are created equally. The shoe that is best for your foot won’t be best for someone else. Also, there are countless different styles that you can select from, as well as all the different brands, materials and price ranges.

Improve Your Game with a Good Pair of Golf Shoes

Even for a golf beginner, choosing the right shoes to play in will ensure that you are snug, as well as have the traction that you need while playing. If you are playing plenty of golf, you may quickly see how a good pair of golfing shoes can perform wonders to help enhance your comfort level as well as your game of golf. Never underestimate the ability of a pair of shoes to dramatically boost your complete performance in a game. Taking the time to actually try on many pairs of shoes will ensure your last selection is sturdy as well as comfortable in a style and colour that you like and enjoy using.

Newbies’s Guide on Improvement of Golf Swings

Maybe you are just an beginner golfer who is out to have some fun. But even then you need to know a few tricks and tips for better golf swings. This will help you to play your corporate peers better and earn a few brownie points and give a fillip to your popularity. Let me give you a few handy golfing tips that will improve your swing super fast and you will soon start earning accolades on the field.

Correct swing tempo

The tempo of a swing and a pitching wedge while using a driver happens to be the same. Again when you take a full swing you get the same tempo, regardless of the kind of club you use. If you can maintain the consistency of your tempo, you will also be able to maintain the consistency in contact and this will lead to accurate shots.

If you wish to ensure a proper swing, you have to allow your arms to lead and using your arms you draw away the club smoothly. Then you have to allow your body to follow. And this stance will also shift your weight automatically from your left to right side because the left hips and shoulders turn obediently. Almost 90% of your body weight will rest on your back foot when you are performing the top of the swing.

When you are at the top of your swing and wish to gain some accuracy over your shot, pull with your left arm. And next, you shouldn’t ape the leading down swinging move performed by pros. They gain a lot of power from it, but you are an amateur golfer and such an action might result in the ball sliding forward and then you will experience slicing, weak shots.

Maintain the balance of your swing

Use the middle 3 fingers and turn the club loose. Then using your thumb you have to balance the club. The little finger will grip the club only when you are at the top of your backswing. You also have to turn your shoulders to an exact degree in such a way that your target and your club are in line. I always recommend this valuable exercise to work your left thumb under the shaft. This move will keep the club balanced and you will be ready for hitting.

Unless you know how to correctly grip the club, you won’t get a good hold nor will you be able to put it in the proper slot and of course making winning shots is completely out of the question. That is because you won’t be able to get the ball through properly.
