The total number of characters in the Kangxi dictionary is a staggering 47,035 although a large portion of them are no longer used. The essential thing to understand is that the Chinese characters are actually symbols that represent complete ideas rather than words constructed from letters with phonetic values.

The idea of peace holds a very special place in the Chinese symbols. The peace as understood by Chinese character symbols is more of the feeling of happiness in the heart of the people rather than absence of war. They believe that this is what the human race is actually looking for.

As it is the concept of peace is considered to be cool in the eyes of the western youth. Tattoos are becoming more and more popular worldwide. They are almost tribal in nature and a lot of the time, in looks as well, and they are often used as a way for like-minded people to have a visual representation of whatever they want to express, some common examples are, a favourite football team, actor, band or film.

There is an unlimited number of ways that a tattoo can be done. You can have a small word or tribal design or some full body art. Many people become addicted to getting tattoos done, for example, David Beckham. He started out with just the names of his children, but then proceeded to get more covering his arms, legs, torso and back.

Tattoos are often done in symbols such as ancient languages or Chinese characters. It is important to do some research before deciding on what you want and to make sure that the symbols say what you think they say. Lots of Chinese symbols have different meanings and the slightest change can make them read completely differently. You wouldn’t want to find out a year after you had one done that the artwork on your arm that you thought said David, leader of men actually says Prawn curry with Vietnamese rice. It has been known to happen so its well worth doing the homework.

Another important factor is to choose your tattoo artist carefully. A few years ago there was a girl that wanted to get Angel tattooed over her back. The lettering was beautiful, very carefully done and looked very nice, apart from one small thing, the girl had ended up with Angle across her back instead of Angel as she had not picked up on the error in the tattooist preparation notes.

So what do we learn from this? Well, for one thing you should always check that your tattooist isn’t dyslexic as fixing mistakes (if they can be fixed at all) can be very expensive and difficult.

If you have never had a tattoo before, I would suggest starting small and working your way up to the bigger, elaborate designs. Good tattoo shops will have a portfolio for their tattooist full of his/her previous work. If you know you want a tattoo, but aren’t sure what you want, then these portfolios are a good way to get some ideas.

The Holy Spirit: Questions To Ponder About

Many believe they know who and what the Holy Spirit is. Let’s explore that thought. Is the belief based on personal experience or is it based on church doctrine? Is the Holy Spirit even explainable or can we only be lead to our own personal experience with God? We are told the Holy Spirit is a counselor and a guide. How do we hear our guidance? These important questions remain unanswered for many ‘believers’.

Nobody can really define the Holy Spirit in terms we can all understand. The reason for that is because each of our experiences gets filtered and interpreted through our ego mind. What needs to happen in order to communicate a fuller understanding of the Holy Spirit is for people who believe they are already receiving guidance from the Holy Spirit to gather and exchange their experiences with each other. Although not everyone has the same name when referring to their spiritual guidance everyone agrees that the guidance of the Holy Spirit comes from within.

I’ve heard people who refer to the Holy Spirit as their higher self and others believe that the Holy Spirit is what a guardian angel is. The belief in higher self is the idea that we eventually become an ascended master who then transcends time and space. Maybe the Holy Spirit and Guardian angels are 2 different kinds of beings altogether. Still others believe the Holy Spirit is another name for our Creator God who is everywhere.

What does the Holy Spirit do to guide us?

Why does the creator have a Holy Spirit for us to be guided by?

How do we connect with spirit?

When is the Holy Spirit going to guide the world into everlasting peace?

None of us can say that we have fully received the answers to these questions in our lives. If enough of us share what we understand about the Holy Spirit perhaps we will reach a fuller understanding as a group. Not everyone calls their spiritual guidance the Holy Spirit but everyone that feels lead by the spirit agrees that the Holy Spirit is a spirit which guides us from within. Its up to us to be open to the gift of guidance that we have all been given.
