One of the most popular religious groups in the United States and some parts of the world is the Kenneth Copeland Ministries or KCM. It was founded on 1970 by its religious leader, Kenneth Copeland with his wife Gloria, after they were converted into Christianity in 1962. They claim to be carrying the mission of letting the world know about God.

To carry out this noble mission, it is necessary to disseminate the word into many parts of the world as much as possible. KCM or EMCI (Eagle Mountain Church International Ltd.) uses various ways, mostly media, to reach out people. One of which is through television broadcast, the Believer’s Voice of Victory which was first aired in 1979. Others include newsletters and books from their own publication, live conferences and fellowships. With these methods, they certainly had reached many parts of the world like United States, Canada, Ukraine, Australia and South Africa.

With a seemingly good intention to preach God’s word, Kenneth Copeland Ministries had to face various issues. Though they carry a noble vision, many just do not agree with them.

KCM’s critics are those who do not believe with Kenneth Copeland’s teachings and doctrines. This includes former members of the organization, government offices, other Christian sectors and other non-believers. Being a rich religious group, majority of the issues that were brought up against them was regarding their wealth. It was on 2007 when the said group was put under investigation due to complaints, both from its critics and the media. The investigation aimed to determine whether the couple was using religion for their own personal profit. Church organizations are exempted from taxes. The government, especially the Senate would want to know if the couple has their personal businesses which were put under KCM’s name.

Also, it was noted that one of their teachings states that members are promised to have a prosperous life if they support KCM financially. When they give offerings and monetary donations to the church, they would surely be blessed by a hundred fold. Bible verses were even cited to support this teaching. Because they have quite a number of followers, the church has collected millions of dollars which enabled them to purchase their own private jet and to build a private airport as well.

The ministry is also known for its teachings in healing. Ken Copeland is also popular with the healing crusades he offers. The power to heal is a spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit. The Kenneth Copeland Ministries promise its believers the perfect health that they will be healed to whatever sickness they may be suffering through Word of Faith. Claiming and believing without doubt that they have received the cure, they will truly be healed. This teaching however had caused anger to former followers who had not experienced it.

For the Christian denominations, they refuse to accept the teachings of KCM. Topics like Jesus being human as one and not being God, that humans are little gods, a different interpretation of the crucifixion of Christ and that humans can command angels as long as they use the Word of God are just some of the major topics for debates and discussions.

It is important to watch out where we should believe. It is always important to ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to guide us in the light.

Ken Copeland was the founder of the Christian Organization Kenneth Copeland Ministries. He was born at Lubbork, Texas on 6th December 1939 and was a known author, speaker and a televangelist. He converted to Christianity on November 1962.

He was initially a recording artist of partial Native American decent. However after his conversion to Christianity he left the recording art and started writing articles and books. His work was widely appreciated and his performance made place in the list of top charts. His work on Billboard entered the list of top 40 hits. In Apr 20, 1957 his work “Pledge of Love” also made a place in the top 40’s and stayed there for an 8 week period. The best place he could reach in the list of top charts was 12th.

After conversion he worked hard on Christian Ministry works. He was the chauffeur for Oral Roberts in the 1960s. Later he did get an enrollment at Oral Roberts University which is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Oral Roberts University Boards of Regents was one of the board formed at Oral Roberts University with Ken Copeland being its main member till 2008. Later on a different board came up which assured a higher standards of financial accountability. This new board was created due to a case which blamed the University for performing wrong financial and political acts during October 2007. George Pearson who was the chairman of the board of Oral Toberts University till January 2008 got married with Ken Copeland’s eldest daughter named Terri.

Kenneth Copeland Ministries grew up during 1970’s and his “Believer’s Voice of Victory” came on television during 1979. The ministries created by Ken had their Headquarter at Newark and Texas. They were even based internationally at locations in Australia, Africa, Canada, United Kingdom and Ukraine. The ministries had been actively involved with prison inmates in 23 countries.

Ken Copeland did get some criticism for his teachings on different subjects. His teachings on “Word Faith Movement”, claims on faith healing and claim on Bible believers of getting hundredfold returns on their giving’s (as per Genesis 26:12, Mark 4:20, Mark 10:29-30, Luke 6:38, II Corinthians 9:6-12 and Galatians 3:13-14 of the Bible) were widely criticized.

His most famous teaching was to praise god during morning, noon and night. He wanted everyone should praise god during the day. Praise him for the freedom, healing and for Calvary. People questioned Ken Copeland the meaning of the phrase “Born Again” which was given for the first time by Lord Jesus.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland founded the Kenneth Copeland Ministries. The couple started KCM to preach God’s word of faith and love and fulfill their call to the nations. They have been very successful with their commitment for over 40 years since the 1970s. Almost nothing has change in how they base their teachings in love, faith, deliverance, prosperity and anointing. Conformity of Divine Dreams

In the Book of Joel chapter 2, God promised to release dreams and visions upon many people. He gives revelations through unlimited number of ways, but one of them is dream. There are normal daily dreams and there are divinely inspired dreams. There is a need that we know the difference between the two. And one principle we could study is the conformity of the message.

First of all, any sort of revelation from God must conform to the truth taught in the Bible, because He does not contradict to Himself. He is true and just. ‘Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.’ Also, if there is a prophecy or prediction of a future event in a dream, the event must turn out as what is prophesied. Or else, the dream does not conform to the reality and cannot be a divine dream.

Sometimes dreams may even come with supernatural phenomenon, signs, wonders or accurate predictions. But as long as the dream contradicts the written word of God, we must be clear that it was not from God. This is well illustrated in Deuteronomy chapter 13. The law even commands to execute such person who dreams dreams with signs and wonders but speak contradicting messages to God’s word.

Moreover, according to Deuteronomy chapter 18 and Jeremiah chapter 23, in the situation where a dream claimed to have got a dream from God that brought a prophecy, whether the prophecy was personal or related to the whole community; if the prophecy was not fulfilled in the future or it did not conform to the future event, then the dream must be a false dream and the dreamer of the dream is called a false prophet who must be stoned to death.

We know that God is infinite. But we have to know that the principles to judge a revelation are finite. Therefore, we must not limit the way God communicate with us. Of course, we must test each and every claimed prophecy or dream with biblical truth. We must not accept some messages as the word of God casually or according to ourselves. But at the same time, we must stay tender and open to God. We welcome the new work of God. We welcome God to speak to us and encounter us in whatever ways He wills.

Also we must stay humble. Do not think yourself higher than you should. We should receive God’s word with a fearful heart. We do not take it lightly. We must stand firm in truth and be tender and attentive to God’s voice, because we are His sheep, He is our shepherd. The Lord leads me with His voice, whatever way it is expressed.

The Christian That Is Two Faced

Sadly, a large number of Christians are found to be different in their houses or with their friends than at their place of worship.

When with believers, the average Christian has it all together. He shows a passion and a desire for relationship with God and other people, an amazing insight into what it means to know God and His word.

Outside the church walls, these perfect Christians are drastically different. Telling all sorts of lies or cheating people out of their money or things is a regular occurrence for them. Conning those they do business with or having flings with coworkers is something they approve of. It is a curious matter how these tricky Christians make great efforts to keep their dark actions hidden away. Extreme caution is used to make sure those that hang out at church don’t have a clue about these sinful activities.

Can Christians really live life in two different ways? The number one reason why Christians can live like this has to do with their capacity to lie. Killers and rapists sometimes get away with their crimes because they live a big lie and show society that they are normal, like the majority. When studying these people it is shocking to uncover that even those close to some criminals were clueless that they were killers or rapists.

Such killers were indulging a fantasy while living in the real world because of how well they were able to deceive everyone.

The second factor of the double life Christian has to do with the evil human heart. God condemns sinful actions even if we only commit them in the heart.

Jesus captured this idea in the Sermon on the Mount. He said, “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder,’ . . . But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment” (Matt. 5:21-22).

Imagine, I can consider myself good for not committing a crime but by getting mad at the people close to me I am not much different than someone living a double life, and will be rewarded for doing what a killer does.

Anger paralyzes us, as it seems to overpower us to do the regrettable. We snap at our spouse or children without realizing that they are being caused pain. Afterward we are stuck trying to fix a difficult situation.

In conclusion, it is important to realize that what we do in our hiding place is seen by God and the things of the heart are to Him as the committed action.

My inclination toward murder on the inside makes me an automatic two faced Christian even though on the outside I seem like a nice lad.

Take Time to Review and Count Your Blessings

Remember when you were young and the school teacher said “We will be having a test in a few days?” That meant that it was time to start reviewing the things that you had learned in class. Hopefully, you had been studying all along.

But when he said it was time for the exam, it was time to stop and take a good, thorough review of everything that you had gone over. You had to try to remember everything, put it in its proper place, and know how to use it for your benefit.

The Bible is also full of reviews. Because reviews are mentioned so many times in the Bible, I think God wants to give us the message that sometimes we need to stop and review in our own lives. In the Old Testament (Exodus 15) Moses was a good example of someone who reviewed. After Israel was led to safety through the Red Sea Moses reviewed how God had destroyed their enemies and protected them.

Exodus 15:1 says that Moses and the people of Israel sang to the Lord. The entire song that they sang out to God was a review of the many things that God had done to protect Israel. He saved them from their enemies, showed mercy upon them, He led them safely through the wilderness, and generally just looked out for them and took care of them.

In Exodus, Moses and the people of Israel are a great example of reviewing, but there are plenty of other examples throughout the Bible. In Psalms there are a number of chapters where the Psalmists take the time to review and praise the Lord for how he has protected them in hard times. Psalm 18 is a great example where David writes of how God is his rock and fortress.

We can also look in the New Testament. In Hebrews chapter eleven there is a review not only of what God has done but of the faith of many people found in the Old Testament. It talks about faith as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. The chapter continues then to speak of the faith of Abel, Enoch, Noah and Abraham.

It is good for us to review. Never, never get too busy that you forget what God has done for you! Take time to count your blessings. Like the old song says, “Count your many blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.” Take time to review and to count those blessings!
